What if targeted tissue could be destroyed without a single incision or needle?

Histotripsy represents a fundamentally different approach to treatment. Developed by HistoSonics, the system uses focused ultrasound energy to create a precisely controlled bubble cloud that mechanically destroys targeted tissue - without incisions or needles.

As this groundbreaking non-invasive technology reaches new markets across Asia, bringing innovation closer to patients is about more than introducing a new system.

Behind the technology is an ecosystem that needs to be built around it - from clinical understanding and physician education to market preparation, local expertise and on-the-ground support.

As HistoSonics' partner across key markets in Asia, Transmedic plays a role in helping to build that ecosystem across the region.

A Different Approach to Treatment

Histotripsy uses focused ultrasound energy to generate a controlled bubble cloud at the targeted treatment site. The rapid formation and collapse of microscopic bubbles mechanically destroys targeted tissue, while real-time imaging enables physicians to visualise the treatment as it happens.

But understanding how the system works is only the first step.

Introducing an entirely new treatment modality into clinical practice requires healthcare teams to build the knowledge, experience and infrastructure needed to support its implementation.

That journey extends from physician education and procedure planning to hands-on training, clinical observation, initial-case support and the continued exchange of experience as expertise develops.

Together, these elements help healthcare teams move from understanding a new technology to building the capabilities needed to support its implementation in clinical practice.

Global innovation, supported locally

For emerging technologies, much of the groundwork begins well before commercial launch.

For Allson Chng, Regional Product Lead at Transmedic, that means looking beyond the technology itself and preparing the wider ecosystem needed to support its introduction across the region.

As HistoSonics' partner in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Hong Kong, Transmedic works alongside HistoSonics and healthcare institutions to help lay the foundations for the introduction and adoption of histotripsy across the region.

Our teams support this journey through market preparation, stakeholder engagement, physician education and training, as well as ongoing technical and procedural support as experience with the system develops.

This work takes different forms across different markets. Healthcare systems, regulatory pathways, clinical workflows and institutional requirements vary across Asia. Having teams on the ground enables us to understand these local environments while connecting healthcare professionals with knowledge and experience from across the wider region.

It is this combination of global innovation and local market understanding that helps create the conditions for a new technology to be introduced and supported sustainably in clinical practice.

Building expertise across the region

As histotripsy continues to develop across Asia, the opportunity goes beyond introducing another medical technology.

It is about helping to establish an entirely new treatment modality - and building the clinical knowledge, local capabilities and support ecosystem around it.

For Allson, this is what makes the journey particularly exciting.

“One of the things that excites me most about working with histotripsy is the opportunity to help introduce an entirely new treatment modality into this region.  Transmedic has been through the experience of introducing advanced medical technologies into this region before, so we can build on that experience - how you develop the market, how you build clinical capability, and how you support physicians and hospitals as they adopt something new.”
— Allson Chng, Regional Product Lead, Transmedic

As that journey continues, Transmedic will work alongside HistoSonics and healthcare institutions across the region to connect global innovation with local expertise - supporting education, strengthening clinical capability and helping to build the foundations for the continued development of histotripsy in Asia.

Because bringing innovation closer is not only about introducing new technology. It is about building the expertise to support it.
